The more parents expect their children to progress, the more positive their feelings and attitudes towards children, which cultivates self-confidence, self-reinforcement and ultimately the desire of children to engage in learning with positive results.

2. Take advantage of their particular interests during the study.

It is a fact that children, like all of us, deal much more easily and effectively with everything that is part of their circle of interests and abilities. Of course, by definition the learning process involves the acquisition of new skills, but in many cases a new knowledge or the completion of an exercise at home can easily be utilized and related to the interests of the child.

For example, in a child who enjoys sports we can enhance learning to read by reading a sports magazine, learning to write by writing a paragraph about a football match he attended or learning math with problems that have to do with the score of the teams and the number of players. Still, a child who loves music can be encouraged to learn the history lesson by singing or with the accompaniment of a musical instrument.

3. Create an environment and one study program that meets their specific needs.

Every child is unique, just as their needs are unique. It would therefore be good for the study environment to be suitable in order to make the reading process easier and more enjoyable. So, for a child who likes motor activities and breaks down easily, we make sure to take frequent breaks.

Also, the use of short sketches or rhymes activities, e.g. flying α ball on the right act or on the right syllable can be very helpful activities. Respectively, the students who are lower tones and like organization and class, we make sure to provide a daily routine in their daily learning environment with schedules, tables and of course a tidy study space.

4. Use encouragement and verbal reward, not only for the result, but also for each student’s effort.

The power of encouragement and praise is very important and often its value may be underestimated and overlooked. However, it is a very simple, direct and often effective way to enhance the learning process.

In fact, the reward is given only after the completion of an activity, but it is very important to provide it throughout the effort as it is a driving force for the student.

5. Reward with some material reward.

Material rewards are a common way to boost a child’s motivation, and as mentioned above, it can be doing a favorite activity, buying a favorite toy, or making money.

To be effective, this kind of reward must obviously meet the interests and desires of the child. It is also advisable to give after the completion of a specific learning goal and to observe some measure in its administration, so that the student does not end up performing his lesson in an executive and hasty manner in order to receive what he wants and not to connect the lesson exclusively with the specific material reward.
